The Atiku Bagudu Grassroots Network for Tinubu 2027 has dismissed reports suggesting that a so-called “Tinubu Must Go” campaign is gaining traction in Northern Nigeria, describing the movement as mere noise without organised political strength and disconnected from the realities on the ground.
In a statement released on Thursday and signed by its convener, Hon. Ali Oriri, the group said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues to enjoy solid, expanding and organic support across the 19 northern states, driven by visible infrastructure delivery, renewed security gains and bold economic reforms that are gradually improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
According to the network, attempts by opposition elements to project isolated cases of discontent on social media as a widespread northern revolt against the Tinubu administration are not only exaggerated but deliberately misleading. The group noted that such narratives ignore the substantial work being done by the administration and the loyalty of key stakeholders, traditional rulers, youth groups, women organisations and grassroots mobilisers who recognise the difficult but necessary decisions taken by the President since assuming office in May 2023.
Hon. Oriri stated that the Atiku Bagudu Grassroots Network for Tinubu 2027 is already on the ground consolidating its structures and deepening engagement with communities across the North in preparation for the 2027 general elections. He stressed that what is being witnessed in the region is not rejection but growing appreciation for a government that has chosen to confront decades-old structural problems head-on.
“The so-called Tinubu Must Go movement is making noise, but noise is not the same as organised political strength,” Oriri stated in the release. “What we see in the North is growing appreciation for the roads being constructed, the power projects advancing, and the renewed focus on security that is gradually restoring confidence in many communities that had been under siege by bandits and insurgents for years.”
He explained that President Tinubu inherited deep structural economic and security challenges that required courageous and unpopular reforms, adding that those reforms, though tough on Nigerians in the short term, are now laying a solid foundation for long term prosperity and national stability.
“President Tinubu inherited deep structural problems. The reforms he embarked upon were tough, but they are laying the foundation for a stronger economy. Our network is on the ground educating our people on these realities and organising them for 2027,” Oriri said.
Oriri maintained that Northern Nigeria remains a critical and decisive political base for any presidential election and that genuine engagement, not online agitation, is what determines electoral outcomes. He disclosed that the Atiku Bagudu Network is working closely with like-minded stakeholders, community leaders and political actors across the North West, North East and North Central to counter misinformation and to highlight measurable progress recorded by the Tinubu administration in the last two years.
He cited major highway projects linking northern markets, ongoing rail developments, increased investments in electricity transmission infrastructure and the retooling of the security architecture as concrete evidence that the administration is addressing the very concerns being exploited by critics and promoters of the Tinubu Must Go slogan. The group insisted that any honest assessment of the public mood in the North must go beyond selective voices on social media and examine the broader picture of development, stability and inclusion.
“We are not blind to the challenges of cost of living and insecurity. No serious person is,” Oriri said. “But we also see the deliberate investments in roads that link our markets, the push to improve electricity transmission, and the operational successes being recorded by our security agencies. These are not imaginary.”
“The people of the North understand that sustainable progress requires continuity of purposeful leadership. That is why the Atiku Bagudu Grassroots Network is mobilising support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027,” he continued.
The group further accused promoters of the “Tinubu Must Go” campaign of seeking to capitalise on temporary hardships without offering any coherent alternative that addresses the root causes of Nigeria’s economic and security challenges. Oriri maintained that the network’s approach is rooted in constructive engagement, community education and issue based mobilisation rather than opportunistic agitation designed to overheat the polity ahead of 2027.
“Our loyalty is to the Nigerian people and to the progress that is being made under this administration,” Oriri declared. “We will not allow a campaign built on frustration alone to define the political conversation in the North. President Tinubu has shown the courage to take hard decisions. The Atiku Bagudu Grassroots Network for Tinubu 2027 stands firmly with him because we believe continuity is essential for the gains already recorded in infrastructure and security to be fully realised.”
