The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Ukum I State Constituency, Prince Tyodoo Livinus, has paid a courtesy visit to the immediate past Governor of Benue State and PDP leader in the state, Chief Samuel Ortom, at his Makurdi residence.
In a statement on Monday, Prince Livinus said the visit was to formally present himself to his “father, mentor and leader” after receiving the PDP Certificate of Return as the party’s flag bearer for Ukum I.
“Following my receipt of the PDP Certificate of Return as the party’s candidate for the Ukum I State Constituency, it was important for me to formally visit my leader, who was out of the state at the time of the presentation,_” he stated.
According to him, the visit was both a duty and a privilege to receive Chief Ortom’s fatherly blessings, wise counsel and encouragement as he begins his campaign.
“_It was both a duty and a privilege to receive his fatherly blessings, wise counsel, and encouragement as I continue this journey of service to our people,” Prince Livinus said.
He described the Nyamkyume I Tiv as a pillar of leadership in Benue politics and expressed gratitude for his continued mentorship and commitment to the growth of the PDP and development of the state.
“_I remain deeply grateful for his unwavering leadership, mentorship, and commitment to the growth of our party and the development of Benue State,_” he added.
Prince Livinus pledged to work with the party leadership and stakeholders to ensure a more secure, united and prosperous Ukum and Benue State if elected.
“With God’s guidance and the support of our people, we shall continue to work together for a more secure, united, and prosperous Ukum and Benue State,_” he said.
Chief Ortom served as Governor of Benue State from 2015 to 2023 and remains the leader of the PDP in the state.
