“We Are Dating The Same Girl”: Blaqbonez Opens Up On Odumodu Blvck Fallout

Nigerian rappe r Blaqbonez has publicly detailed how a past relationship with a woman who later dated fellow rapper Odumodu Blvck led to a fallout between the two artists, resulting in what he described as months of harassment and social media attacks.

In a statement shared online, Blaqbonez said he and Odumodu Blvck “used to be cool” and had a cordial relationship before 2023.

According to Blaqbonez, both he and Odumodu met the same woman in June or July 2023 and were both interested in her. He said he and the woman subsequently had a non-exclusive relationship for about a year.

“We didn’t label the relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend,” he stated. “She doesn’t speak to me about other guys; I don’t speak to her about other girls.”

He said the relationship ended about a year later after the woman told him “it wasn’t going the direction she wanted” and that the connection between them was fading. Although they tried to go separate ways, Blaqbonez said she continued to call him. At the time, he said he did not know she was also seeing Odumodu.

Blaqbonez said he found out they were dating after running into her at a bar days later. He said he asked her directly if she loved Odumodu, but she did not answer. He added that he told her she would not hear from him again.

The dispute escalated three days later, Blaqbonez alleged, when his videographer told him Odumodu had reached out to film a diss track aimed at him.

“I reached out to him to know if we had real issues,” Blaqbonez said. He quoted Odumodu as replying: “Dude, I don’t have anything to tell you. Anywhere you see me, don’t greet me. Lie to yourself all you want; me and you know what’s up.”

According to Blaqbonez, Odumodu later called and accused him of “disturbing his babe.” Blaqbonez said he explained that their involvement was in the past, and that he had blocked the woman after learning she was dating Odumodu.

He alleged that Odumodu then asked when last they had been intimate. Blaqbonez said he declined to answer to avoid affecting Odumodu’s relationship. He quoted Odumodu as responding: “We’re enemies since you aren’t saying anything.”

Blaqbonez said Odumodu proposed a three-way call with the woman. During the call, Blaqbonez said the woman denied they had ever been intimate and disputed his claim that they had traveled together to Ghana. Blaqbonez maintained that they did travel and stay in the same hotel, and said he later sent Odumodu pictures from the trip as proof.

He also alleged that Odumodu repeatedly asked for details about the nature of his past relationship with the woman.

“Since then, it has been constant harassment, constant attacks on social media and everywhere,” Blaqbonez said.

Neither Odumodu Blvck nor the woman mentioned in the statement has publicly responded to the allegations as of press time.

The exchange marks the latest public dispute between the two rappers, who were previously seen as peers in Nigeria’s new-wave music scene.
