The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has secured the conviction of a motorist, Obi Emeka Uduka, and he has been sentenced to one week imprisonment for dangerous driving and related traffic offences in the FCT.
According to a statement released on Friday, 12 September 2026 by the Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, Uduka was arrested on 10 September 2026 at about 12:00 noon during a Mobile Court operation at the Dutse Alhaji Unit Command of the FRSC, FCT Sector Command. He was driving a Pontiac Vibe at the time of his arrest.
The offender was arraigned before the Mobile Court on four charges: Dangerous Driving (DGD), Driving Licence Violation (DLV), Vehicle Licence Violation (VLV), and Resisting Arrest.
Presiding Magistrate, His Worship Theresa, found Uduka guilty on all counts and sentenced him to one week imprisonment at the Suleja Correctional Centre.
The FRSC said the conviction reflects its zero-tolerance stance on road violations that endanger other users.
“The Corps views dangerous driving and other acts capable of compromising the safety of road users as serious offences, as such, will always ensure that all traffic violators receive necessary sanctions,” the statement said. It added that the judgment “further demonstrates the Corps’ resolve to ensure that motorists who wilfully endanger lives on the nation’s highways are brought to justice in accordance with the law.”
The Corps also used the opportunity to appeal to motorists across the country to obey traffic regulations, exercise caution, and demonstrate responsible behaviour at all times.
“The safety of every road user remains a collective responsibility, and the FRSC will continue to deploy education, persuasion and lawful enforcement measures to promote discipline and save lives on Nigerian roads,” Ohaeri stated.
