The Managing Director of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, has ordered emergency remedial works on the heavily deteriorated Maje-Dikko axis of the Suleja-Minna corridor.
Agbasi gave the directive during a joint on-site inspection of the corridor alongside the Minister of State for Works, Bello Mohammed Goronyo, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, and the President of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, Alhaji Othman Yusuf.
According to the FERMA MD, the severe deterioration along the corridor has resulted in prolonged gridlock and significant hardship for motorists and commuters plying the strategic route
He said the inspection was aimed at assessing the situation firsthand and identifying immediate measures to restore traffic flow.
“The concessionaire has been directed to complete emergency remedial works within 48 hours, while more permanent rehabilitation measures continue,” Agbasi stated.
He reaffirmed FERMA’s commitment to being present on the ground to understand the realities faced by road users and to take decisive action to keep traffic moving across federal road corridors.
