President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has offered prayers for peace and security in Nigeria during a visit to the Prayer Ground of St. Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy.
Akpabio, who disclosed this in a statement published on his official website, said he joined other faithful at the sacred site to pray for the country, particularly for peace, an end to banditry and terrorism, and for peaceful general elections in 2027.
Speaking during the visit, the Senate President said the trip was also deeply personal, noting his family’s longstanding devotion to St. Padre Pio.
“During my visit to the Prayer Ground of St. Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy, I joined other faithful in praying for our dear country, particularly for peace, an end to banditry and terrorism, and peaceful elections in 2027,” Akpabio said.
“This visit was also deeply personal for me. My family has had a longstanding devotion to St. Padre Pio, and returning to this sacred place once again was an opportunity to give thanks to God and reflect on the power of faith, hope and prayer.”
He added that at a time when the nation faces significant challenges, he continues to pray for Nigerians, security personnel, and for peace across the country.
According to a statement from his media office, Akpabio made the prayers while speaking with St. Padre Pio TV/Radio at the shrine, where he said he and other Nigerians came to seek God’s blessings for themselves, their families and the country which he described as being ravaged by banditry and terrorism. a333
Akpabio described the prayer ground as a holy ground and said the visit was his 10th to the site, which holds deep spiritual significance to him and his family.
