Senior Special Assistant to the Benue State Governor, Hycient Alia on Civil Society and Strategic Engagements, Solomon Semaka, has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to be careful in his dealings with President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Friday, Semaka said the President has done a lot for Wike and that the minister should not take the goodwill for granted.
“Wike, be careful with the President. Very soon, there will be no better reward for you. The President has tried for you. You are doing too much. I am praying for you,” Semaka said.
According to him, Wike enjoys more political leverage in the APC administration than any other person apart from the President, largely because of the attention Tinubu has given him.
He listed what he described as privileges granted to Wike, including the removal of the FCT from the Treasury Single Account, TSA, less than 100 days after he assumed office as minister.
“That is a place where all government revenue is consolidated and spent from a common pool. That is the current practice for all other ministries and agencies except for Wike and his FCT,” he noted.
Semaka further alleged that Wike got Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, removed from office for six months and was able to stop him from returning because President Tinubu assisted him.
He also claimed that the FCT Minister allegedly got the APC to selectively screen aspirants even within the ruling party, and alleged that Wike has built houses for judges and is a friend of the court.
The Governor’s aide warned that loyalty must have limits and that political relevance is not permanent.
“But Wike should be careful with Tinubu. If there’s nothing better to offer for loyalty, it will be brutal. Remember that President Tinubu actually appealed to Mallam El-Rufai to work with him after office. So, nobody is actually indispensable. Let Wike be guided,” Semaka added.
