The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Council, Hon. Engr. Oche Sunday Oche, has been nominated for the highly coveted Grassroot Mobilizer of the Year Award covering Senatorial Zones A, B, and C in Benue State.
The prestigious state-wide recognition is powered by the Benue Civil Society and Community Development Associations, led by its Convener and President, Joseph Uyeh.
According to an official notification from the coalition, Engr. Oche emerged as the single most outstanding local government chairman across the 23 Local Government Areas of Benue State following a rigorous, comprehensive and objective independent assessment of performance, inclusive governance, and civic engagement.
In a letter of nomination made available to newsmen, the coalition said the selection of the Ado LG boss was a major validation of high-impact grassroots administration and absolute political fidelity in Benue State.
Acknowledging Engr. Oche’s track record of excellence and transformation, the civil society coalition highly commended his proactive governance frameworks, which have successfully bridged political, social and economic divides across the state.
His assessment score was anchored on three pivotal thematic areas including Cross-Zonal Harmonization, Community-Driven Growth, and Industrial Advocacy & Economic Vision.
The group said Engr. Oche has demonstrated unique capability to mobilize and unite diverse community groups across Benue State, setting an unprecedented benchmark for peacebuilding, societal re-engineering and conflict resolution.
They also lauded his hands-on administrative approach, which features direct, active engagement with youth councils, town unions and women groups, ensuring the true voice of the grassroots shapes local policies.
The coalition further praised his aggressive and relentless advocacy for the revitalization of critical local assets, most notably the Igumale Cement Factory, an effort that has successfully catalyzed regional attention and critical state-level developmental investments into Ado LGA.
Beyond his administrative breakthroughs, the coalition profoundly praised Engr. Oche’s steadfast political consistency, specifically lauding him for standing firmly by the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, and the ruling party in their visionary mission to guarantee true local government autonomy.
Political analysts across the state have noted that Engr. Oche’s perfect alignment with Governor Alia’s overarching master plan serves as an inspiring catalyst for rapid rural transformation.
Speaking on his unalloyed commitment to the administration, Engr. Oche said loyalty is the cornerstone of progressive governance.
“Loyalty is the cornerstone of progressive governance. Standing firmly behind our leader, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, is not merely a political choice; it is an ideological duty to ensure that the vision of a transformed Benue is executed without distraction. When the center is stable, the grassroots prosper,” he said.
The formal presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 6th October 2026, at the ALGON Guest House in Makurdi, and Engr. Oche will be honored alongside a select elite group of exceptional leaders in the state, including Hon. Solomon Wombo, Hon. Blessing Onyeche Onuh, Hon. Victor Ormin, Hon. Vitalis Neji and Heads of Security Agencies in Benue State.
Stakeholders say with his engineering background, unmatched capacity to unite factions and absolute loyalty to the state executive, Engr. Oche is positioned as an indispensable asset for higher responsibilities.
