His Majesty Global School, Ibadan, Oyo State, has joined the growing list of schools across Nigeria participating in the nationwide campaign to eliminate malaria through the Geneith Health Competition, GHC, with ten students of the school emerging as malaria ambassadors.
The students earned free registration into the competition after demonstrating exceptional knowledge of malaria prevention and other health-related issues during an interactive health awareness programme held at the school premises on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
The programme was organized by CEOAFRICA, the organizers of the Geneith Health Competition, sponsored by Geneith Pharmaceuticals Limited and powered by Coatal Forte Softgel. The outreach team was led by the Managing Director of CEOAFRICA, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, who visited the institution located in Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan to sensitize students and mobilize them for the national anti-malaria movement.
Speaking during the outreach, Prince Ilobanafor explained that the Geneith Health Competition is a youth-focused, nationwide initiative designed to educate, empower and engage secondary and tertiary school students with the requisite knowledge and skills to protect themselves, their families and their communities against malaria. He noted that the competition goes beyond academics, as it seeks to build a new generation of health advocates who will drive behavioural change and promote preventive practices across the country.
The highpoint of the event was an engaging and interactive question-and-answer session where students were tested on their understanding of malaria causes, symptoms, prevention, treatment and the importance of environmental hygiene. The exercise, according to the organizers, was aimed at reinforcing accurate health information and correcting misconceptions about the disease which remains one of the leading causes of death in Nigeria, particularly among children.
At the end of the keenly contested session, ten students who distinguished themselves with correct answers were rewarded with free registration for the Geneith Health Competition and officially recognised as malaria ambassadors under the initiative. The honour is expected to position them as peer educators and health advocates within the school and their respective communities.
The students recognised for their outstanding performance include four from the senior class: Olayemi Taiwo, Olayemi Kehinde, Odeniran Covenant and Owolabi Okikijesu, as well as six from the junior class: Adewale Aishat, Emucha Nehemiah, Adepegba Inioluwa, Abiodun Precious, Akinyemi David and Afolayan Mary.
The President and Proprietor of His Majesty Global School, Dr. Babajide Johnson Ojo, while speaking at the event, expressed profound appreciation to Prince Cletus Ilobanafor and the entire Geneith Health Competition team for extending the initiative to the school. He described the programme as timely and impactful, noting that it provides students with a rare opportunity to learn, compete and contribute to national development.
Dr. Ojo encouraged the students to take full advantage of the platform, stressing that the knowledge and exposure from the competition could inspire career interests in the health sector and bring pride to the school. He also lauded Geneith Pharmaceuticals Limited for sponsoring what he termed a laudable and patriotic initiative capable of supporting Nigeria’s aspiration to eliminate malaria through homegrown solutions and increased public awareness.
Also speaking, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Kehinde Isaac, in her vote of thanks, appreciated the organizers for choosing His Majesty Global School as one of the participating schools. She commended the students for their enthusiasm, cooperation and active participation throughout the programme and urged them to sustain the lessons learnt.
The event also featured group photography sessions involving the CEOAFRICA Managing Director, the school proprietor, teachers and students, with participants photographed class by class as part of the outreach documentation.
With this development, His Majesty Global School has officially joined the nationwide network of institutions participating in the Geneith Health Competition, which targets students in junior and senior secondary schools as well as tertiary institutions across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
The competition is strategically designed to combine health education, academic engagement and incentives to mobilise young Nigerians as frontline ambassadors in the fight against malaria. Through the initiative, students are encouraged to acquire relevant health knowledge, share accurate information and promote preventive practices among their peers, families and communities.
The ten newly inaugurated ambassadors from His Majesty Global School are now expected to take the message beyond the four walls of the classroom, championing effective malaria prevention practices such as the use of insecticide-treated nets, environmental cleanliness and prompt treatment, in line with the national drive towards achieving a malaria-free Nigeria.
