The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike, has vowed to deliver Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Wike declared that the All Progressives Congress, APC, under the umbrella of the Rivers Rainbow Coalition, will secure a landslide victory for Tinubu, stressing that no amount of opposition propaganda will stop the President’s re-election.
The former Rivers State Governor spoke on Tuesday in Port Harcourt when he met with members of the Rivers Rainbow Coalition Youths.
According to Wike, the achievements of the Tinubu administration in infrastructure, appointments and people-oriented policies have already endeared the President to Nigerians, especially Rivers people.
He said politics must be about tangible benefits to the people and not about empty promises or social media popularity.
“We are not playing politics for the sake of it without bringing benefits to our people. After all, we are not looking for those who are fine or finer. We are looking for those who will do something that will positively impact Nigerians and Rivers people,” Wike said
Wike noted that Rivers State has never had it so good in terms of federal appointments, disclosing that no fewer than 49 indigenes of the state currently occupy prominent positions in the Federal Government under President Tinubu.
He said the central question for Rivers people ahead of 2027 should be about the interest of the state.
“What is important is: where is Rivers State? Where are we going, and how will the election benefit Rivers State? That is what we are talking about,” he stated.
The FCT Minister took a swipe at opposition leaders, describing them as political gamblers who lack consistency and credibility. He warned Rivers youths not to be deceived by politicians who only appear during elections with fake promises.
“You cannot vote for a political gambler. Every time, they come around making empty promises, but our people know better now. We want to win this election with a difference,” he added.
Wike, in a more direct attack, questioned the trustworthiness of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, insisting they do not have what it takes to lead Nigeria.
He described the opposition figures as unreliable and urged the youths to reject them at the polls.
The Minister also harped on youth inclusion, directing that young people must be given reasonable representation in committees that will organize presidential rallies and other mobilization activities for Tinubu’s re-election.
“The committee for the presidential rally must put a reasonable number of our youths. Their energy and involvement will be crucial to our success,” Wike said.
In his remarks, the APC Governorship candidate for Rivers State, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, promised a youth-friendly and inclusive government if elected, with compulsory bursary payments by all 23 local government councils and improved technical and vocational education.
Chinda, who thanked the Rainbow Coalition Youths for standing firm with Wike through difficult political times, said their loyalty will not be forgotten.
“Our leader sincerely appreciates you. What we have come to do is to say thank you for what you have done. You are not forgotten. We appreciate you and will continue to appreciate you in different ways,” he said.
Chinda said the message from Rivers youths is clear.
“The message we are sending out today is that the youths of Rivers State are unapologetically, unconditionally standing firm with Tinubu for President,” he declared.
Earlier, the Rivers State Coordinator of the Rainbow Coalition Youth and South-South Coordinator of City Boys, Mr. Chima Aguma, assured Wike of massive grassroots mobilization to deliver Tinubu and all coalition-backed candidates.
Similarly, the President of the National Union of Rivers State Students, NURSS, Justice Uranta, pledged to mobilize students across the 23 LGAs, tertiary institutions and in the diaspora for President Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition.
Both youth leaders vowed to take the campaign to every ward and community to ensure total victory for the President in 2027.
