Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has felicitated the Grand Khaleefah of Tijaniyyah in Lagos State, Sheikh Ameenullah Abd’ Salaam Alabi Akoshile, on the occasion of his 77th birth anniversary.
In a statement issued Saturday by the Government House in Ilorin and signed by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Abdulrafiu Agboola, the governor said he joins the Khaleefah’s family, friends, associates and the wider Tijaniyyah community in celebrating the milestone.
Governor AbdulRazaq described Sheikh Akoshile as a statesman of faith and service. According to the statement, the Grand Khaleefah previously served as Chief Protocol Officer to the late Gen. Tunde Idiagbon, retired as a director in the federal civil service, and currently sits on the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs. He is also the Amir Musulumi of Oro Land in Kwara State.
Commending his contributions, the governor praised the cleric “for his spiritual leadership, his commitment to peace and development, and his guidance to millions of people on matters of faith.”
AbdulRazaq prayed to Allah to grant the Grand Khaleefah long life, good health, and “an honored ending.”
The Tijaniyyah order, one of the prominent Sufi brotherhoods in Nigeria, has a large following across the country, with Sheikh Akoshile providing spiritual direction to adherents in Lagos and beyond.
