The Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership, AYAGL, has dismissed reports claiming that the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, has resigned, describing them as “false, malicious and misleading.”
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday and signed by its President, Alhaji Danbature Abdul, the group said it stands in “firm solidarity” with the minister, whom it described as “a distinguished patriot and exemplary leader” committed to Nigeria’s peace, unity and security.
The assembly said General Musa’s “aggressive and decisive operational strategies,” including the _”shoot-on-sight”_ directive against security threats, are yielding tangible results on the ground.
According to AYAGL, sympathizers and beneficiaries of banditry are behind the fake news aimed at distracting the minister from his successes.
“His aggressive and decisive operational strategies… are actively yielding tangible results on the ground. Consequently, it is clear that the sympathizers, sponsors, and beneficiaries of banditry are the desperate elements behind the promotion of such fake news,” the statement read.
Beyond security operations, the group noted that the minister has shown “uncommon passion for human capital development” through youth empowerment, capacity-building initiatives and engagements with young people nationwide.
The Arewa Youth Assembly also cited the continued confidence reposed in General Musa by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as proof of his competence, professionalism and loyalty.
“We are confident that he will continue to justify this trust and remain steadfast in the discharge of his constitutional responsibilities,” Abdul stated.
The group urged Nigerians to disregard the resignation rumours and refrain from spreading unverified information “designed to create unnecessary tension and distract our leadership from the noble duty of safeguarding the nation.”
AYAGL reaffirmed its “absolute support” for the Minister of Defence and other patriotic leaders working to ensure a peaceful, secure and prosperous Nigeria.
