The Southeast Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Mr. Ikenna Azomchine, has urged Ndigbo across the Southeast to throw their weight behind the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 presidential poll to secure more growth for the region.
Speaking to journalists after visiting several communities in Nibo, Awka South LGA, Mr. Azomchine said voters should support APC in next year’s presidential election. He pointed to visible road and infrastructure projects under the Tinubu administration, and to the number of Southeast indigenes given key appointments in government.
Azomchine, who leads the Obidient Movement in the zone, said he spent the last three years in opposition and concluded that the current opposition structure cannot realistically deliver the presidency to the Southeast. He advised Ndigbo to align with mainstream national politics to improve the odds of producing an Igbo president in future.
He added that the Obidient Movement is currently touring communities across the Southeast to drum up support for President Tinubu ahead of 2027, a move he believes will shift political calculations for the region.
He praised President Tinubu for addressing some of the concerns he raised against the government three years ago, calling him a leader who puts Nigeria above ethnic lines. He further urged the Southeast to vote heavily for APC in 2027 so the zone can be considered for the presidency sooner rather than later.
Also speaking, Movement member Engr. Azubuike Chine said the group is backing President Tinubu fully for a second term because of what they see happening at the grassroots. He noted that the Movement is proud of the working relationship between Mr. Seyi Tinubu and the Obidient General, and expressed confidence that it will translate into strong APC support at the polls.
