Social media activist Martins Vincent, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has accused MTN Nigeria of using his private phone number for a Dangote IPO advert without his consent and says his lawyers will be writing the telecom company.
In a statement posted on his social media page today, September 15, 2026, VeryDarkMan said his number, which is linked to his National Identification Number, NIN, was used in the promotion without approval.
“MTN Nigeria my lawyers will be sending a letter to your office I will want a well detailed explanation as to why my private number was used for dangote IPO advert without my consent,” he wrote.
“my number which is linked to my NIN was used without my consent and I will not take this likely…I will need explanations and if your explanation don’t make sense to me we will meet in court.”
VeryDarkMan also criticized the Dangote IPO, describing it as looking “like a Ponzi scheme.” He argued that if Aliko Dangote genuinely wants to make life easier for Nigerians by offering refinery shares for as low as ₦5,000, the businessman should instead reduce prices of basic commodities.
“if aliko dangote cares about Nigerians to the point where he wants to sell shares of his refinery for as low as 5000 naira plus then he should just bring down the price of CEMENT,PETROLEUM PRODUCTS,RICE,SUGAR, the price crash of this will make life easier for everyone,” he stated.
He ended the post with a direct warning to the telecom giant: “ANYWAYS @mtn get ready.”
As of press time, MTN Nigeria and Dangote Group have not issued a response to the allegations.
VeryDarkMan is known for his outspoken commentary on social, political and corporate issues in Nigeria, and his posts often draw wide engagement online.
