The National Council for Civil Society Organisations (NACCSO) has cautioned against politicizing the death of illegal miners to call for the sack of the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the National President of NACCSO and Founder of Vision-One Leadership Development Initiative (VOLDI), Rt. Comrade Emmanuel Johnny, said those calling for the removal of the CG are individuals who hardly see anything good in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“It is unfortunate that those calling for the sack of Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, Commandant General of the NSCDC, are the same individuals who hardly see anything good in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. Most of them are the same set of people chanting ‘Tinubu Must Go,'” Johnny said.
He described the calls as unpatriotic and an attempt to engineer crisis by politicizing a sensitive national issue

According to him, Professor Audi remains one of the most committed, sincere, open-minded, patriotic and proactive Service Chiefs in Nigeria, under whose leadership the NSCDC has continued to wax strong in its core mandate of protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure and safeguarding lives.
“Politicizing the tragic death of illegal miners is not only unpatriotic but also exposes those behind it as the true enemies of the nation’s progress,” he stated.
Johnny noted that Civil Society Organisations have been partnering with the NSCDC long before Professor Audi assumed office, and that the Corps remains one of the security agencies that CSOs have total confidence in.
He added that a photograph attached to the statement shows the long-standing partnership dating back to when Dr. John Ade Abolurin was Commandant General.
The NACCSO President therefore called on those taking advantage of unfortunate situations to cause disaffection to desist and join hands with the government and security agencies in building the nation.
“Every Nigerian should focus on adding value to our leaders, the government and the local communities,” he said.
