The All Progressives Congress Vanguard, a prominent support group within the ruling party, has applauded the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, and his reconciliation committee for successfully bringing eight suspended members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly back into the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The group made this known in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Danladi Musa, following the recent high-profile meeting of the lawmakers with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa and the subsequent donation of vehicles to facilitate their political activities.
According to the statement, the strategic intervention by Dr. Matawalle prevented what could have been a damaging loss of legislative and grassroots strength for the APC in Zamfara State ahead of the crucial 2027 general elections.
The APC Vanguard described the development as a political masterstroke that has not only restored unity within the party’s ranks in the state but has also significantly strengthened President Tinubu’s support base in the entire North-West geopolitical zone.
“We salute the courage, wisdom and political foresight of the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, and the members of his reconciliation committee for ensuring that these eight lawmakers returned home to the APC,” Comrade Danladi Musa said in the statement.
“Their action has saved the party from unnecessary distraction and sent a clear message that internal grievances can be resolved through dialogue rather than division. This is the kind of leadership the APC needs at this critical time.”
The group noted that the eight lawmakers — Hon. Aliyu Ango Kagara, Hon. Ibrahim Tukur Bakura, Hon. Faruk Musa Dosara, Hon. Bashir Abubakar Masama, Hon. Muktaru Nasiru Kaura, Hon. Nasiru Abdullahi, Hon. Bashar Bello and Hon. Bashar Aliyu — had earlier resigned from the party after months of suspension by the Zamfara State House of Assembly and concerns over rising insecurity and lack of party protection.
Their suspension had created a major crack in the APC family in Zamfara, a state considered strategic to the party’s electoral fortune in the North-West. The lawmakers had cited neglect and unresolved internal disputes as reasons for their exit, a move that opposition parties were already preparing to exploit.
However, their decision to reverse course and return to the APC after meeting with President Tinubu was described by the Vanguard as a major victory for party discipline, mature leadership, and the President’s inclusive approach to party management.
The APC Vanguard further praised the gesture of donating vehicles to the returning lawmakers, describing it as a practical demonstration of care, empowerment, and readiness for the task ahead.
“The gift of vehicles to the returning lawmakers is a practical demonstration of care and empowerment. It will enable them to return to their constituencies, engage the people and mobilise effectively for the success of President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates in 2027,” the statement added.
The group insisted that with mobility and logistics support, the lawmakers would now be able to reconnect with their constituents, explain the Renewed Hope Agenda, and drive grassroots mobilisation for the party at a time when early campaigns are beginning to take shape.
In a strong political declaration, the APC Vanguard emphasized that the return of the legislators has closed a potential gap that opposition parties had hoped to exploit in Zamfara and the wider North-West region.
“Northern votes for President Bola Tinubu in 2027 are not negotiable. The people of the North know where their interests lie, and they will not be distracted by temporary disagreements or opposition propaganda,” Comrade Musa declared.
“What Matawalle has done is to protect those votes by keeping the party intact and focused on the bigger picture. Zamfara is an APC state, and with this reconciliation, we have shut the door against the opposition.”
The group called on all APC stakeholders in Zamfara and the entire North-West to emulate the spirit of reconciliation demonstrated by Matawalle, stressing that no personal ambition or past grievance should be allowed to endanger the collective interest of the party and the President’s re-election bid.
The statement also praised President Tinubu for personally receiving the lawmakers and giving them assurances on security, welfare, and party inclusion. According to the Vanguard, the President’s direct involvement demonstrated his commitment to party unity, inclusive leadership, and his determination to carry every aggrieved member along.
It added that the Tinubu Again Movement, which Dr. Matawalle is actively promoting across the North, now has additional committed and influential hands in the Zamfara State Assembly to drive the message of continuity and consolidate support for the administration.
“With these eight lawmakers back in the fold and empowered with vehicles, the APC in Zamfara is better positioned to deliver a resounding victory for President Tinubu in 2027. Their return is proof that when leadership acts with sincerity, results follow,” the group stated.
The APC Vanguard further urged the leadership of the Zamfara State House of Assembly to urgently resolve all remaining issues surrounding the suspension of the lawmakers so that they can fully resume their legislative duties and effectively represent their constituencies without further hindrance.
“We urge the Zamfara State House of Assembly leadership to urgently resolve the remaining issues surrounding the suspension so that these honourable members can fully resume their legislative duties and represent their people without hindrance,” Comrade Musa concluded.
The group expressed confidence that similar reconciliation efforts across other states, particularly in the North where internal wrangling has weakened party structures, would further solidify the APC’s hold and guarantee resounding success at the polls in 2027. It called on party members nationwide to remain united, disciplined, and focused on the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
