BREAKING: Adeleke Campaign Exposed Plot To Declare Osun Governorship Election Inconclusive, Demands Security At Collation Centers

The ca mpaign council of Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has raised the alarm over what it described as a “sinister plan” by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare the ongoing Osun State Governorship election inconclusive.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Imole Campaign Council accused INEC of planning the move “in an apparent attempt to frustrate the imminent victory” of Adeleke, who is contesting on the platform of the Accord.

The statement, signed by Rep. Bamidele Salam, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, alleged that the plan is being “coordinated by several Governors and leaders of the APC” as a “last minute desperate move” to subvert the will of Osun voters.

The campaign called on the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the DSS, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other security agencies to “immediately provide adequate security at all collation centres across the state” to prevent what it called a subversion of the electoral process by “hoodlums hired by the APC.”

The council said it was “sad” that ballot boxes had already been hijacked in a few polling units and demanded that those responsible be arrested and prosecuted.

The statement also reminded INEC Chairman and security agencies of what it described as a directive by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the election “is not compromised in any form,” noting that the poll would serve as a “litmus test for the 2027 General Election.”

It further urged the INEC Chairman to uphold his “various public commitments” to ensure the Osun Governorship election is free, fair and credible.

The Adeleke campaign called on local and international observers to “take note of this information and speak out on the side of the law and people of Osun State at this hour.”
