Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, has congratulated Senator Ademola Adeleke on winning the 15 August 2026 Osun State Governorship Election.
In a statement released on Saturday, Kwankwaso described Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, as his friend and commended the outcome of the poll.
“I congratulate my friend, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State and candidate of the Accord Party, on his victory in the 15 August 2026 Osun State Governorship Election,” Kwankwaso said.
Speaking as a leader of the opposition and what he called “a committed democrat,” Kwankwaso praised voters in Osun for turning out to cast their ballots.
“As a leader of the opposition and a committed democrat, I commend the people of Osun State for exercising their democratic rights and reaffirming the power of the people’s mandate,” he said.
“This victory is a reminder that when citizens remain committed to their civic responsibilities and make their voices heard, the people’s will must prevail.”
The former Kano State governor also acknowledged the role of the electoral umpire in the process. He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the conduct of the election and urged stakeholders to sustain efforts toward credible polls.
“I also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the conduct of the election and encourage all stakeholders to continue to uphold the principles of credible, peaceful and transparent elections,” Kwankwaso stated.
He concluded with a final message to the governor and residents of the state: “Congratulations once again to Governor Adeleke and the good people of Osun State.”
