Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, has commended the people of Osun State for their large turnout in Saturday’s governorship election and congratulated Governor Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke on his re-election.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency said the election reflected the vibrancy of Nigeria’s democracy and the commitment of citizens to civic duty.
“I would like to commend the good people of Osun State for coming out in large numbers yesterday to exercise their civic responsibility and participate in the democratic process,” Faleke said.
He congratulated Adeleke, candidate of the Accord Party, on his victory and wished him a successful second term.
“I would also like to congratulate the Governor and candidate of the Accord Party, Governor Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke, on his re-election as Governor of Osun State. I wish him a successful tenure and urge him to continue to work for the peace, progress, and development of the state,” he added.
Faleke also applauded the APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, for what he described as “a very good outing” and for demonstrating commitment and sportsmanship throughout the process.
“I equally commend the candidate of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, for his very good outing and for the commitment, dedication, and sportsmanship demonstrated throughout the electoral process,” he stated.
The lawmaker described the poll as proof that democracy remains strong in Nigeria and credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for upholding democratic values.
“Yesterday’s election was a clear testament that democracy remains alive and vibrant in our country. It also demonstrated the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to upholding democratic values and ensuring that the will of the people is respected,” Faleke said.
He further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for the peaceful conduct of the election and for “demonstrating independence in the discharge of its responsibilities.”
Faleke also praised security agencies deployed across the state for their professionalism in ensuring a peaceful and orderly process.
He concluded by appreciating Osun voters for their “resilience, peaceful conduct, and commitment to democracy.”
