NANS President Akinteye Babtee Babatunde on Tuesday led thousands of students on a 7km “Walk for Life, Not Drugs” in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
The walk, held as part of the 90th NANS Inaugural Senate Sitting, was themed “Walk for Life, Not Drugs.” Student leaders from across the country joined to show that advocacy goes beyond meetings and resolutions.
According to NANS, the event was aimed at promoting physical health, mental resilience, discipline and drug-free campuses. The association said healthy students and healthy campuses are key to academic excellence and to Nigeria’s future.
NANS warned that substance abuse endangers education, productivity and national development. It urged students to choose fitness, discipline, education and hope over destructive lifestyles.
The association also commended the Director of Sports at NANS National Headquarters for initiating the walk, and thanked all participants for demonstrating that Nigerian students have an active role in shaping the nation’s future
