President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian Muslims on this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration, urging the faithful to reflect on and practice the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a Statehouse press release issued on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the occasion should go beyond festivities to become a period of introspection, prayer, and moral renewal.
“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” Tinubu said.
The President called on religious leaders to use the Maulud period to pray for Nigeria and to encourage their followers to translate the Prophet’s virtues into commitment to national unity and development.
He also urged Nigerians celebrating the festival to extend support to the needy and vulnerable, in line with the spirit of compassion associated with the Prophet’s life.
Tinubu further called for special prayers against insecurity and other challenges affecting parts of the country, asking for divine intervention and peace nationwide.
Eid-el-Maulud marks the birthday of Prophet Muhammad and is observed annually by Muslims with prayers, charity, and teachings about his life.
